In severe cases, sufferers endure over 40 attacks every year. This can have a huge impact on peoples’ home and work lives.
Lea Raudsepp has suffered with migraine for 20 years and says when she gets a full blown attack she can’t do a thing, “I can’t function. I can’t lift my head off the pillow and I’m vomiting every ten to fifteen minutes. It’s impossible to sit at a desk and work. It’s impossible to get in the car and go and see a client.”
Lea works full time running her own business and says that it can be very difficult juggling her migraine and her work – but she has learnt to adapt.
“I have commitments and it’s a real concern. I feel if I have a period of time where I’m feeling unwell I make sure I take my medication, I sleep, I eat and I really scale things down to the point where I can get as much rest as possible so that I can work.”
