When Jackie Boardman hit 40 she had no idea that a few years later she’d be off work permanently and drawing her pension!

After year’s working in the health service, she then found herself in need of medical help – her asthma got so bad, she could no longer work and had to give up her job.

Jackie tells New You, “I was on the scrap heap, nobody wanted me and I was no good to anybody and I was really down.”She is one of the 5 million asthma sufferers in the UK and says it has really affected her life. Initially, Jackie says it was hard to accept that she had a condition that was preventing her from doing a job she had always loved. She would get out of breath and feel completely exhausted and weak.However, once she came to terms with her asthma and learnt how to live with it, she then discovered a new lease of life and a new passion…..bowling!
