Be aware of migraine
Yusuf Moosajee is a migraine sufferer who waited almost ten years to get a diagnosis.
He gets between 2 and 4 attacks every month and says he is still struggling to understand his condition, “I suppose the worst thing about it is they’re unpredictable. They just seem to happen and with me there isn’t anything that specifically highlights when I’m going to get them.”
Top tips for migraine sufferers
Like a third of sufferers, Yusuf’s condition has led to difficulties at work. He says a history of migraine can go against you in the workplace because of lack of awareness.
The City of London Migraine Clinic’s Dr Anne MacGregor says there needs to be more support for migraine sufferers. She tells New You, “We have very little Government support and until migraine is more firmly recognised for the disabilities it causes then we’re just not going to get the support that we need.”
