When you've got to go, you've got to go..

Needing to go to the toilet when you can't find a loo is always inconvenient, but when you suffer with IBS, it is a big deal.

Tamily Butterton suffers with the diarrhoea form of IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and says it does sometimes catch you out, "One minute you might be alright and the next minute your stomach is churning and you just need to go to the toilet quick."

Coping with IBS

It may be that there aren’t public toilets nearby, or that those in the vicinity are closed or, in some cases vandalised and dirty. So what can you do?

The Gut Trust, an organisation which supports people living with the condition has introduced the Can’t wait card which is designed to help those with IBS access a toilet quickly, Penny Nunn is from the charity, "because of the nature of the illness it made them very reticent about talking to people and by having a card that they could actually show in a shop or an office, to say, help I need to find a toilet in a hurry gave them the confidence to go out."
